Title: dimidiochromis compressiceps
Post by: walkinghorse on January 20, 2014, 11:52:18 PM
Does anyone keep these,  picked some up at the auction and wasn't planning on keeping them.  But after a couple of days I like them.  Always kinda thought they were too mean to keep.

I've kept & bred them. IMO they aren't too aggressive,  except to one another.  But they definitely are predatory & fun to watch while hunting.

I have a 6" male which I've enjoyed for the past 3 months. Great fish.BIGGGGGG mouth lol. It's just amazing how a fish with such a slinder body has such a huge mouth. Mine is a "supposed" male....did you get any males at the auction?

If they are, then IMO they are cool as hell. Great looking fish with a cool blue hue.

Who'd you get them from do you know?

Who's that Blair, someone I don't know here I'm guessing?

Just wondering is all.

Because I may be interested in one more myself to be honest, if its a male.

Mike's a breeder from out in White Lake.  I've been over to his place & He has some nice stock.
He's the one who brought the Malawi Barracuda to the auction.

I don't know If He has adults available tho.

I do know Fins has a nice 5" or so male for $35. (Fully colored,  except for "birthmark")

I have have kept eye bites for a number of years.  They can get very aggressive.  I had to recently sell my 10"+ show male because he literally took over the tank.  He was in my 7' 265 gallon and would take over 5' of the tank violently chasing any other fish that tried to swim into his area.   Keep in mind I had him in there with 30+ predator haps and peacocks.

On the other hand other males I had were extremely peaceful fish....
