Title: Ceramic Tile?
Post by: SKISWETPETS on January 13, 2014, 10:32:26 PM
I have the same box type filters that I have seen in the past at the Oyer's. Anyway, I have just typically used a small amount of gravel or stone to keep them sunk in the tank. I remember seeing that they had tile pieces glued or siliconed to the bottoms of all of there's. Will any ceramic/slate type tile be safe in the tank? The gravel is effective but gets a little messy when changing/cleaning media. Thanks in advance...

Ceramic tile should be fine.  FYI, the gravel also acts as a place for beneficial bacteria to grow.

Thanks Marty. I know the gravel is a good thing for the tank, just been thinking about making the filter cleaning a little quicker/easier.
