Just an FYI for those of you who have or use the Fluval 206 canister. I got a great deal on this and it has been up and running off and on for a year or so as needed. It developed a drip between the head and the base. That leak got progressively worse and I ended up taking it offline. The Oring is not the issue... it has been replaced. After some research I have found this problem a little more common than I think Fluval would like to admit. I am not bashing them and have reached out for their support. I still have my 205 and FX5 running like champs.. Would also like to add that I read about a lot of 406 failures as well.

So what is the source of the problem that isn't being admitted? You didn't share it either...

I am going to guess that the clamps that hold the head down get a little stretched over time/ loose. Maybe why they made the larger filters with the screw on tighteners?

I never had a problem with my Fluval 306.

I cleaned the Oring, checked to be sure the trays and media were in place. Still leaked. Tried replacing the Oring.. Still leaked.. Then I checked the clamps to make sure all is nice and tight. It doesn't seem to "lock" down tight but does seem to creat a decent seal. It is not a total failure. The leaks are down the side of the canister along each side of the indentation where the clamps are. It started as a slow drip.. and then got much worse the more I played with it. We first noticed it when the filter was shut off then turned back on.. odd.. Wish I could tell you more.. The reviews I have read fail to find the "exact" problem as well..

Interesting. My experience has only been with the '04 series and I don't really have any complaints.
