Title: air pumps
Post by: breaktime on January 11, 2014, 04:56:42 PM
I want to buy an air pump which will be running in the sump until I need to use my quaranteen tank. I What is a good quiet brand to get for a 20gal long?

I actually love those millionair pumps.  I have about 5 in use and 5 for back up just in case there chep enough to have extras lying around.  I have yet to have one stop working.

I have a sponge filter in there that is seeded that I'm using to help with the cycling of the tank. Plus I have a fish that is a trouble maker in the sump so I figured I just run it.  And if I don't do it I have it when needed for the 20 gal tank. Is 3/16 tubing the right size?

With a sump, you will have plenty of agitation for air.

Having a seeded sponge will help for a new tank though.

I have always used Whisper.  They last for years.  I get them from Drs Foster and Smith.  They usually have them on sale a few times each year, so I buy an extras when they do. Lots of different sizes for different jobs.
