Help me identify this fish...... ???
-
Protomelas [something]
If I had to guess on the "something", I'd be inclined to guess P. taeniolatus. If it colors up more, I could offer a more confident suggestion.

I searched Google images so these may also be mislabeled or wrote g but I found these that have a similar horizontal lines on the body. The first says its a protomelas boadzulu, the second pic says its a protomelas taeniolatus. They look simar but you have to take Google images with a grain of salt. I'm lean I g towards boadzulu just from what I've seen on the search but that's just a guess, I don't know all, like some others on here.

I don't think "Protomelas boadzulu" has ever been a recognized species.
I believe there are some other fish of various genus known by species as "boadzulu".
I have seen reference to multiple location variants of P. taeniolatus, including "Boadzulu Island", so my best guess is that's what you found reference to while googling.

Could it be a Salvini cichlid (nandropsies Salvini)?

Nope
