I've been looking for house for a number of months with little success. I check Zillow everyday. On Friday one popped up that interested me. Drove by it Friday night - definite interest. Drove by it Saturday morning before the auction and peeked in the windows - unless there was something drastic on the inside I was already willing to make a full price or better offer. Called my realtor Saturday afternoon to get the response - "Jeff you should have called sooner. Even though it didn't make it on Zillow til Friday it went on the market on Tuesday. It had multiple offers by Thursday and was sold on Friday." DOHH!

Sorry, that really sucks.
We are looking too, so I know how it goes

I never even heard of zillow. I check realtor.com regularly. Of course my realtor is a big help throwing houses at us left and right.

Isn't the realtor supposed to forward you information on new houses that matches your interest faster than Zillow can deliver it?

Real estate agents, unless hired as a buyers agent, work for the seller. What ever they tell you to try to keep you working with them - they work for the seller. Their obligation is to sell high and fast.

Yes, but I naively turned down their offer in lieu of just using Zillow. My mistake.

I invest in real estate...get on the MLS mailing list through a GOOD agent....you will get updates daily if you want through email....Zillow gets there stuff through the MLS....when they pop up on the MLS in your mail then your good to go....FYI- the good ones are usually gone in 1-3 maybe 5 days....and in most cashes those are cash offers.
