Seen others do this to show progress. I like the idea 8) So here goes a 40 gallon breeder build.
-
Now filling with water!! Adding Substrate ( Crushed Puka Shell from Pet Smart) And a some amazing fish I ordered from Josh Cunningham (Great Quality)
-
Dominate male Pundamilia Nyererei (Mind you still under 2" and showing very vibrant colors) Thanks again Josh. The sub-dominant male is showing good color as well.
-
Added a UV Sterilizer and a few Java Ferns, small Anubias barteri var. Also have a Fluval 304, Whisperer 30-60 and a hydro-sponge V, and a ViaAqua 200 watt titanium heater with digital temp readout. AquaticLife 4 bulb T5 fixture for plants. Nice it has a timer built in for Morning, daytime, evening, night modes.

Looks good Rickie. Glad the fish are starting to show some nice color for you.
-
Looks great, the painted background really makes everything pop nicely.
-
Thanks guys. I can't wait to see how they turn out in the next month. I was skeptical about a black background at first. I Decided against blue because I figured it would clash with more colors than black n take away from the fish. Glad I went with the black.
-
On my 29 gallon I went with a printed background.
When I was setting up my 65 I really wanted to try black, but I couldn't bring myself to paint it so I used black posterboard.
I keep thinking I should have manned up and done it, and tanks that look like yours aren't helping :P

That is one hell of a light you got on there. Nice tank and nice looking fish.

Female appears to be now holding. Constant chewing motion, expanded throat.
-
Female spit eggs. Came into work this morn, and she no longer had them in her mouth and was eating this time when I fed them :(

Sorry to hear that. Sometimes it takes the mom a few times to get the hang of it.
-
I read to that if they feel the eggs were not fertilized correctly, sometimes they will do the same. At least I know they know what they are doing. The males are still building their breeding grounds in each corner and trying to get the females to submit. Maybe it will happen again. :o

A day after first female spit, a diff one was holding. Now day 12 since first noticed holding. I stripped on day 3 and have 8 Fry about to be free swimming in another day or two. lost 2 fry :(

Thank you. I snagged this piece out of a river. Scrubbed it in every nook and cranny with multiple hard bristle brushes to get into tight places. Did this until almost nothing came off with ease. Never had an issue with it. I boiled it about 5 diff times then after final scrub, let it soak in wash sink for 5 hrs in boiling water. Advantage of getting it out of a fast flowing river is you dont get the yellow water, and it SINKS lol.

Very active breeding in this group. Pundamilia Nyererei 1 male 4 females.

3 Generations up and coming so far. first are free swimming, second have a few days left then will be free swimming, third has about 10 days left.
-
Moved tumblers to back of tank for better view. You can see the free swimmers a little better.
-
Big man on campus. Great quality. Thanks Josh.
