I'd just like to point out the fact that he isn't wearing a wedding ring ;D

Best Tip - ask nicely and be reasonable. :) And remember she's far more important than your fish...so at the end of the day, would you rather have her or a tank (30 tanks) full of cichlids?

Would you really like me to answer that? :P

Ja ja ja, ja JA JA JA.... I cannot stop laughing. This is one of the all time best videos you have posted.
I have a another way of getting another tank! This actually worked as I just pulled it off LAST week !
Like the Rick said, hound your wife about getting another tank, like months, say hey I bought all these fish for around $5 or $10 each and that you have a standing deal with a LFS to trade those fish in for another tank. Well once the fish get big enough to trade start bring up that you are trading these fish in for another tank, 2 or 3 months pass and you still have not done a deal, get pissed off and start complaining that the LFS screwed you over and is now renigging on the deal and will not give the the agreed $$ credit towards a tank but only fish credit.
Then work a ton of OT - Like 42 hours in one week. When that big check arrives quickly go to the bank and withdrawl $500.00 LMAO I actually did this.
Then start looking on craigslist and find a complete setup - Tank, Stand, Canopy, filter, heaters, glass tops - EVERYTHING you need. Talk the guy down from $700 to $500.
Then when you are ready to go check out the tank, take your daughter with you (evidence). She sees the tank and reports back to the warden that it is in fact a legit deal.
Now, you just take a week for this to set in and the warden will start talking to you again. This is when you know you have succesfully orchestrated getting a bigger tank. You don't take $$ out of the budget and you get your dream tank !
As Charlie Sheen says - I am winning ! LMAO !

Probably best if you don't. ;)

Just dont ask. Problem solved

Just dont ask. Problem solved
That's been my solution for well over a year, but she stays quiet as long as they're downstairs.

"Plenty of fish in the sea" (lakes&rivers for us)

I'm definitely going to watch this later. But the simple answer is to marry someone who has an addiction as well. My bf is probably the worst influence on me having a larger tank! We have a few tanks between the 2 of us!
-
just sneak them in and if she say were those tank's came from play dumb. lol ;)

Haha I've done that before! The main one I used to use was - Why are you getting all pissy about it? You said it was ok. What now you don't remember? Great! I guess that's what get for asking when you were drinking.

Didn't you just tell me you are putting a second tank in the bedroom?
-
Just tell her they're not yours....your just holding them for a friend. ;D
-
I like his tank, what is that cichlid near his elbow? Looks like a geo or something?
I'm so glad my girl doesn't care about labels like "coach bags", but she definitely has placed limits on what size tank, how many etc... but I pretty much agree with her and she puts me in check before I run out and buy everything that pops up without really thinking it out lol.
also that last tip about placing the fake ad is genius, I got to remember that one

Geophagus surinamensis if I had to guess.

I made the mistake of limiting my wife to 2 cats (she's a closet crazy cat lady) so she limits me to 2 tanks.
But I do NEED a qt tank and the small betta tank doesn't count ::)
I tried to tell her I'd get rid of the 29 gallon for a 150 and still only have 2 tanks, but she wasn't buying it :-\
-
I started off asking for a 6 foot tank and got talked down into a 4 foot tank, she almost fainted when she saw the 110 gallon 4'x2' base tank on our front porch, lol, I think she was expecting a 29 gallon in her mind lol
I don't think she would mind my having a basement full of aquariums, just only one or two in our living space, oh and the money aspect keeps coming up, how I'm never satisfied and done, how I keep needing more stuff, etc..
I don't ask her why she needs more expensive yarn when she hasn't made anything out of the stuff she already has

I think it helps if you can pick out space in your basement, fishroom, or wherever that you want to put tanks and then just rotate stock through those tanks as you are successful breeding them, get bored of the species, etc. This has worked much better for me (and my wife) the past 5-6 months instead of constantly rearranging tanks and taking the time and money to meet up with CL or fish forum folks to buy new tanks, etc. I still switch out tanks from time to time but try to make them fit in those designated spaces. Whatever you do, try to not interrupt supper or other plans to go run 'fish errands.' ;)
I did almost make an exception to this when I bought a new Evolve 8 a week ago for some nano fish, but I put it away for now...maybe a mid-winter project. Plus my desk is finally cleaned off for the first time since we moved into the house...we'll see how long that lasts. :)
Oh, and to be fair, yarn isn't nearly as expensive as a new (or used) fish tank...though I'm sure it adds up over time. Maybe you need to ask her to knit you a new hat or something to get the ball rolling. :)

Yes but it'll be under the existing one. ;)

I agree this is what I do with the three tanks I have in my basement even thought I was only going to have 3 tank in my room lol. so now I have 7 tanks. :o
-
It really is a sickness. I know I don't have anywhere near the amount of tanks some of you guys have, but I'm not into the breeding aspect of it so I started back into fish again exactly 1 year ago and planned on having just a 29g and that was it. Now I have 265g, 55g, 55g, 29g, 20g, 20g, 10g .....bunch of "enablers" around this place! >:( lol ;D

Haha 2 cats is plenty, I wouldn't change that deal, heck I'd give up some tanks to get rid of the cats, lol just kidding
-
I like the last tip. An extra bonus would be that I get the tank and also get to keep the $50 I "paid" for the amazing deal.
Crap, she might see this. DELETE DELETE DELETE!!!
