Title: drilled tank question
Post by: RichE on October 21, 2013, 11:45:46 PM
If you have a drilled tank and want to use a sump, what do you use inside the tank if there is no built in over flow(weir)

I have seen stack pipes, but would that work? I would think all you would hear is water running down the inside of the pipe.

Thanks

Rich

theres a lot you can do... easy and cheap would be just doing a stand pipe wirh a strainer over it.so you don.t suck fish down

Is this a DIY project?  If so, what special tools do you need?

Now that I'm getting quite a few tanks, it seems that water changes are taking up a lot of my time, but I've got over 40 tanks up and going and it seems like a BIG task to change it now.

I heat bent them with a jig for my 45 degree ones and just on the side of a bench for my 90 degree ones.

Here's a link to the album on photobucket, it shows a 90 gallon I put an overflow in, i've since sold it. I'll try and find other pics of my 125 or my 180 that has them.

or fun full siphon with noisy backups - (bean animal or herbie style).  Siphons run dead silent, if something happens and a backup drain kicks in, it makes enough noise for you to notice something's not right.
