Title: Hi from the Ann Arbor area
Post by: SteveScheuring on October 17, 2013, 03:32:20 PM
Hi all!

I have a 90 gallon Peacock and Happy tank.  It has been active since February, 2013, when I started with 25 fry.  Most are between 1 and 3 inches and the males are starting to show some nice color.  I have since begun moving the females into a 30 gallon tank.

Currently I have in the 90 gal:
1 OB Peacock - male
4 Aulonocara 'German Red' - 1 male and 1 female for sure
1 Aulonocara baenschi - male
2 Otopharynx lithobates 'Zimbawe Rock' - 1 male and 1 female
4 Protomelas sp. 'Steveni Taiwan' - unsure of sexes
1 Labidochromis caeruleus - unsure of sex
1 unknown hap
1 unknown peacock

Currently in the 30 gal:
2 Copadichromis borleyi 'Kandago' - unsure of sexes
3 OB Peacock - female
4 Otopharynx lithobates - i think they are all female
5 OB Peacock - fry in a breeder net

Ultimately, I would like the 90 gal tank to be an all male tank and I would like to add:
1 Tramitichromis intermedius
1 Placidochromis electra

If anyone would like to trade for any female or extra male, I would be happy to discuss it.

I am looking forward to hearing any suggestions or thoughts!

Welcome!

So do you plan to get rid of the females entirely and use the 30 for something else?  Just curious.

Your all male hap/peacock tank should be nice.  Check out Steve's threads here in the DIY section for an amazing peacock/hap tank with custom backgrounds.

Nope, that sounds like a great plan.  I was just curious if you planned to keep two separate all male and an all female tanks since the females are usually drab and won't breed without males.  :)   That would be an unusual thing to do.  I figured you were just transitioning them out.
