Well, I have had my first lose in my mixed tank. Kind of surprised it took this long to happen. Going to have to be very watchful and see what happens next.
The strange part... it was the fish that pretty much ruled the tank, an Albino Zebra Mbuna. One day all usual... next day he was hiding in the corner with some beat up fins... next day... dead.
I had enough time to think... I better watch him. Just found it strange that the dominate fish in the tank went to the dead fish in the tank in a day.
He was also the one that was breeding with the female all the time.
I think the red top stepped up and showed him who was boss finally. Both were about 5-6" long. Albino slightly smaller of the two.

It was the "fish Mafia" that took him out ;)
Sorry for the loss ken.

I'm a little surprised it took this long for something to come up, and REALLY surprised it was THIS fish.
I had this one from the start... thats the most disappointing part.

Sorry for your loss Ken. The dominant position can change from time to time or someone finally decided they had enough.

Bummer Ken,
Sounds like the other tankmates had had enough of him, def doesn't pay to be a bully..:(

Sorry bud, it sucks, had that happen today as well. I have a 55g Mbuna tank with about 13 mubuna and 5 cats in it. I bought a 4"+ yellow lab on Monday and added to the tank to try to get the other 3 Y.lbs in there to breed...today, he was found Dead. Yet I added a unknown cichlid I got from Scott here on MCA 2 weeks ago which was only half the labs size...he's still perfectly fine, they don't give him a second look. Weird how these fish act at times man.
