How long does it take for these to color up? Looking for some "Yellow Blaze z rock" 1.5-2", but I've heard they are "SLOW" growers.
-
Mine is taking FOREVER. I have almost given up. It's slightly larger, but that is it.
I have peacocks that have fully colored that I bought well after it.
I'd say we have had it for about 6 months now, probably more. Maybe even 8-10 months.
It's about 2.5" now. It was tiny when I got it.

Mine is going on 7 months old and he just started to color up 3 weeks ago. I did move him out of a more agressive tank into a less agressive tank (smaller fish). He is now the dominant fish in the tank thus he is coloring up...
-
Are they "mild mannered" or aggressive?
-
Mine is very mild.
Does good with the peacocks
-
Mild manner. I have mine in a 75 gallon with Alhi group, yellow lab group, and German red group. They take a while. Longer than the red top's I have. Mine red top's are showing nice color at 2".
You also have to be very careful. A lot of hobbiest say they have Z-rocks, however when you grow them up they are red top's. I have went through this twice already.

These fish tend to color up faster and look better when they dominate a tank ( or are the only fish in it)

Thanks to all. I think I'm gonna wait a while. I'm gonna get some though. :)

When you get serious, give "STEVENS" a shout, that is where I got mine. Very good quality....

I didn't see them when I was there or maybe was just looking at all the other fish at the time. I sure will though. Thanks!

My largest is about 3.5" and it is coloring nicely, which I started with 6 fry in February. Especially the dorsal fin. I am excited for the full transformation.
