I've been on here awhile now and TBH I never was the rules much. I see most people have fish pics as their profile photo. On another forum it is against the rules to have a photo of yourself, it must be a fish. Quite frankly all the user IDs of fake names and fish photos don't allow me to really get to know someone. It's not like I say "hey that lady with the pleco pic". I use my name and I use my photo because that is who I am, I am not my fish. Does this offend anyone? Am I being bad for having a photo of myself as my profile pic?
-
Although I did read the rule about PMs and listing a price for sale items ;)
-
Yes.... I am offended by your avatar. :P
-
Well yours offends me to!!! It should be a fish...
-
I could probably change mine anyhow, I've had it up since before Jeff got banned & I think it has gotten the point across by now.
-
I'm being serious on an opinion on this? Seems silly to me? Why would that be a rule?
-
i think your avatar should be whatever you want. if someone wants to nit pick about what your avatar can/ can't be, screw em. as long as its not offensive its your own little mini pic expression of yourself. rules are just boundaries made to be pushed anyways... i just realized no one can read my avatar, guess i'll have to get a new one as well. i honestly dont know why there are rules like that, some i understand but i do agree that some are just overboard.
-
We get to know each other well on forums and such and it would be sad to come to a meeting and not really know anyone's name or face... JS

Lmao! And how do I approach you? Oh hey trailerparkfishtanks! Lmao
-
Kaia you do make a good point I guess it's like when you meet someone on here for the first time but have talked and chatted about different topics it does almost seem like its a weird blind date. Not that we are dating but the awkwardness of not knowing what the person looks like.
-
well i also respond to "ohh do you watch duck dynasty?" my name is wayne, but i will respond to trailerparkfishtanks and i havent been to many events but no one ive met so far is hard to talk to. i guess i would start out with "im TPFT, who the hell are you?" and that usually gets the ball rolling. carpooling is a good way to make sure you know at least one person there or pm someone thats going and ask them to help introduce you to a few people. i guess im getting off topic a bit, but i guess it would be helpful to have an avatar or bio pic on there so you know what people look like.
-
It's no problem to have a face pic as your avatar. I know we had a "mug" thread around awhile back where people could post pics of themselves, but for some reason it didn't take off like the one we had on mittenstate (old forum that crashed). Here's the link if anyone would care to revive it since we have a lot of newer folks:

maybe under "fish pics" we can add "people pics"

If you want to find me at a function, look for the guy with a beard shaved head walking with a limp and hustling good's in the parking lot. I also might be trying to drive Blair and Marty crazy :P
-
As long as it's not an offensive avatar... I don't care what it is.
I would hate to see a rule set for it.

I've heard it's illegal for Blair to have a pic in his avatar, Something about a conflect with Chuck Norris or something ;) lol
On another note yet on the same line...I think a "pic post" thread that is current would be kind'a cool. Maybe I'll start one (no full frontal blair)

This thread makes me think of:
...
Signs, signs, everywhere there's signs
%*&^$#' up the scenery, breakin' my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign
...
I think people using their real names and posting their picture is helpful when it comes to meeting them in person at auctions/picnics/other club events. I can't see it necessary to make a rule.
Good to see the mugshot thread resurrected. Hopefully this gets it jump started again. :)

Great song Ron!

I've been known to suggest wearing name tags with real names and forum names at events and auctions. Hasn't taken off tho. Lol. :P
I've kept my avatar steady for a while now...it doesn't help people realize my massiveness tho. LMAO I'm sure I've startled a few when I've showed up for a transaction. 8)

Maybe change it to that picture of you with the AR.;) It looks like a toy with you holding it.
Mike Z brought some labels & a marker to the auction last January... They just sat on the table.

I think that people just weren't aware. I for one didn't realize it until about 1/2 way through the auction. Bring them again this fall and we can try to make a better effort to get the word out that they are available.
-
I was not aware of them at all. Definitely a good idea.
-
I think a name tag is a great idea!!

Emil I have always thought of you as being the smallest Mca member:) lol
