Title: 29g ideas
Post by: Steve on August 04, 2013, 01:19:32 AM
I have a 29g I got for free. Tank, nice stand, lights and filters all free. So give me some ideas/suggestion what might work in a 29g. I would like to stay on the Cichlid side (maybe shellies, or a pair of Calvus, or even maybe a pair or trip of angles) but I'm open to any ideas right now. Anything you guys can suggest I may be missing or not thinking of??

Also- If I was to do Calvus, would it just be a single breeding pair in a 29? and guessing angles would be the same then too?

Yes and yes. You could initially start out with more, but you'd need to cut down the numbers over time.

Shellies would work. A colony of N. multipunctatus OR 3 pairs of N. brevis OR perhaps 2 pairs of N. occelatus/N. meleagris with an aquascaped division between them. (FWIW, don't try mixing multiple shell dweller types).

Other ideas since you put this in the general section ... guppies.  ;D
OR a pair or rams OR a pair of almost any other non rift-lake dwarf cichlid OR a small community tank OR just save the tank to growout fry someday.  ;)

Go New World with it.  Something from the Cryptoheros, Archocentrus or Amantilapia genus
