Title: Fungus?

Just noticed this on my Ngara's tail tonight.  I think it is Fungus, but never seen anything like this.  I did a 50% water change and started to treat with Rid-Ich as it says it treats external fungal infections.  Any thoughts?

Sad day.  Ended up losing him this morning.  He was a great fish....
