I know I may have to wait til these juvies get bigger and get some color but I figured I would try to find d out anyways. I just picked these fish up yesterday from a guy on craigslist and he said that these haps are a "ch- something" and that's all the info he knew about these guys. They are all about 2.5-3.5 inches. Does anyone have an educated guess? All I had was the camera on my phone so hopefully they are clear enough. Thanks in advance

I'll have to look up the species, but a friend of mine just had some of his Africans spawn and your pics look similar to the juvies he's growing out.

LOL. If you don't mind, what price did you pay for these fish that no one knew anything about? ???
P.S. They are Fossochromis rostratus. ;)
-
Look like Rostratus to me.
Edit.. I guess I should refresh my browser to make sure Ron didn't answer before I post.
-
P.s.s they will out grow your tank...
-
THey look like Fossorochromis rostratus to me. They'll need to be 4-5" before you'll even start to see any color, in males, and they get 9+"

they came with all those yellows and ruby red peacocksand they were part of the package deal with the guy getting rid of his 125 tank.the 125 tank with the complete set up gravel filter is light stops everything and all those fish and 2 more tanks 150 bucks. so I'm definitely okay with a few mystery fish LOL. The 125 is only about a year old.

Guess I know now who beat me to this deal on Craigs..:)

yeppers. he kept throwing in more stuff until my minivan couldnt fit in anything else. i did a little research with the cues of regalblue ron and others and they seem like really cool looking adults but from what ive read it'll take like 2-2.5 years for them to reach breeding size. the juvies have some personality to them for sure but i dont know what im gonna do with them. im on the fence if im gonna grow them out a bit in the 125 or sell them. does anyone have any interest in these guys?

If you can tell male from female... I would be intersted in a male. Or mayben even best guess in a male.
But... only one of them.

I'm going to post them IP for sale in the classifieds here, what do these go for? I'm not too familiar with the fish and pricing and I want to be fair.
