For the past day or so I have been hearing this weird ticking sound every once in awhile from one of my 55g tanks. It started last night while I was sitting next to the tank on the computer and had me thinking one of my Rena filters was making a noise or something. I'd here tick tick tick...tick..tick tick :o Checked out both my filters and couldn't find anything wrong. Heard it again later in the night and thought maybe my Hydor heater which does click when it turns on maybe was turning off & on for some reason, nope not it.
Now just a bit ago I'm sitting here and start hearing it again. As I'm sitting there staring at the tank tryin to figure out what is going on it hits me...it's the clown loaches I got a couple weeks ago, they were clicking like crazy ;D I always heard people say that they will make a clicking sound sometimes but I had no idea it actually was as noticeable/loud as it is. Pretty cool to hear them clicking away. And happy it was not my filter making the noise lol.

Pretty cool huh? I always thought that was interesting behavior.

My tiny skunk loaches do the same. I was amazed at how loud it was.
Does it get any louder when they get bigger?
They do when they get excited.
