I'am thinking of setting up a Tang tank I have some J. Dickfeldi and N. Brichardi 6 of each. I want to add a 3rd speicies to my 55 gallon. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

What I have read you may want to consider something to eat Brichardi fry...otherwise unless you pull the fry they may take over the tank. Since you have two more or less rock dwellers I would do shell dwellers as your third...rocks on each end for brichardi and julies then shell pile in the middle, maybe plants to break up line of sight.

Tanganyikan Gobie ( any kind)

One of the many Altolamprologus species...they will keep the Neolamprologus brichardi fry in check.

Get some Cyprichromis or Paracyprichromis species so you have some intersting and different species to see moving in the upper half of the tank.

If you do this be prepared for more water changes as they like super clean water, from what people who breed them tell me.

As you do weekly water changes you should be ok with them. I have a group of cyps with my Kilesa and I change the water usually every eight or nine days without any issues. You are going to want to watch out if you add another bottom dweller in my opinion. Three different groups in a 55 can be tuff. I am starting to see issues in my 75 from time to time with my julies and calvus.

I breed Cyps and Paracyps and do weekly water changes and have no problem with them at all. They do well and breed for me.

I like the Cyps idea, Thanks.

What % do you change weekly in their tanks? I've always been interested in them but have been scared to try them because of cost per each as well as being worried about maintenance schedules to keep them healthy.

I do thirty percent WCs weekly using aged water and vaccuum the bottom each time. It has always worked just fine.

Sounds good. Thanks.
