I've been the hobby long enough to know most Malawi, Tangs& New Worlds.
Also one of the things I like to spend my money on, besides fish, are books about fish.
That's what Google is for anyways;)

Done it alot of times, Some people will say oh not me.

I do it all the time. I have a hard time remembering all the Latin names for fish

Sorry. At the meeting people decided it was just you. And me. And...

Don't get me wrong, I'm NOT saying it doesn't happen to me.

I do plenty of checking...but I've been learning more and more, so I have usually have an idea if what's for sale may be something I'm interested in or not.

Barron's has a nice little book for Malawi Cichlids that's only $10 . It has profiles for all the more common Mbuna/ Haps.

I use cichlid-forum's a lot to veiw pics of fish I am not familiar with. Rarely can I not find a pic or two there. If I don't find it google is defiantely next. Sometimes I remember seeing the fish before and draw a blank.

I do it too but frequently go one step further....I see if the fish is on you tube. That way I can see the fish in action, what it really looks like and can get a better idea of it's overall size. Sometimes several photos of the same species of fish look very different due to photo shopping, angle taken or lighting.
