Title: Official East Side~West Side Trade Route~Round 2 (see reply #27)
Post by: GrizzlysDad on March 17, 2013, 05:49:17 PM
This thread will hopefully be a semi-regular option for east side and west side members to exchange items.
My plan is meet at Preuss' in Lansing every few months.

Anyone that wants to send any items to the west side would be responsible for getting them to me in White Lake. Also, anyone interested in me picking up items to bring back to the east side would be responsible for getting  them from me in White Lake.
In return, everyone could chip in for gas. Limited to a max of 6-8 styros.

Obviously someone from the west side would have to be the "traveler" volunteer on that end.

For this first trip, I will be meeting Justin (GVsailor) on March 24th. Please see his thread if you are interested in anything.
Any west side members will have to contact Justin to make arrangements (if he is willing to do this) for sending items.

Additional info: Payments for items will be handled just like a group order. Items need to be prepaid to the seller, or the buyer needs to give me their cash before the trip. I cannot "front" anybody's purchases.
I'm sure the same applies for the west side's "traveler" (Justin in this instance).

What about us Northern people???

LOL, sounds like a couple people need to set up the "Official North~South Trade Route".
Actually, I go up to Oscoda several times each year between end of April to October/November.
I am thinking about offering to bring items up and back if the need arises.

I assume you mean over to the west side? A friend of mine has a few different plecos he is thinking about getting rid of...I'll see if he's selling his L-191 and let you know.

Disregard this post Art, I just misinterpreted your post.  ::)

Is this your friendly way of volunteering to be that someone?  8)
Seriously though, this concept is pretty cool but where does it become prohibitive cost-wise due to gas prices?

based on need i usually would debate on going they tend to have more people that keep tropheus. i met a friend that would tell me all the time buy them all and then sell them to your members or for the auction. but you never know what people are looking at that particular auction.

Okay, so far I believe I am only picking up items. If I am forgetting someone that would like me to deliver to the west side, please contact me asap.

By the same token, I believe Justin (GVsailor) is only delivering items...nothing heading back with him?

I was hoping to see more posts of what folks had available  :'(

At least Oyers are coming this way for the GVAC auction on the 23rd and I was able to find a few goodies on their list.

As far as I know I am only delivering.   I would happily bring back fish if someone wants something from the east side.

Actually Art, I spoke to Justin about that exact idea. When I put this idea together in my head it was with the hopes that on future "Trade Route" events other people will be the "travelers" (drivers).
I didn't mind doing it, and don't mind future trips, but this gives others opportunity to see other LFS such as Preuss'.

All worked out great for me.

Thanks for the delivery.

Art... the pleco looks great and is at home in the tank.

I head to Preuss once a month or so... but, my trips are always last minute/spur of the moment.  But, if not... I would be more than happy to be a driver.

Looking to make another trip to Pruesse's in Lansing this month. If you have any fish/or anything that you want to be apart of this route, I will see if we can set up a date.

Thanks

Yes, really...unless there is a NASCAR race that day, then I won't be making the trip the 21st....I'll be watching the race.
I'm gonna miss the race today after all due to "prior commitments".

So it is now unofficially official....the next Trade Route trip will take place on Sunday, April 21st.
And contrary to some people's concern, this will not be effecting the 2013 Fish Room Tour in a negative manner.
In fact, it is quite the opposite. A member at each end of the Trade Route would not be able to accomplish their transaction without it being scheduled the same day.  The east side member receiving fish would not be anywhere close to my place to pick them up if it were not for him going on the Fish Room Tour. Therefore, that particular transaction might not have been accomplished.

~To my knowledge, nobody will be missing out on the Fish Room Tour due to the Trade Route trip being the same day.

~The member making the drive from the west side to meet me at Pruess' was not attending the Tour and neither was I...hence, no negative impact there.

~As of right now, there is no other participants for this Trade Route day...hence, no negative impact there.

~My scheduling for the 21st was also driven from personal need. That just happened to be the day I had to make a trip to Lansing for something.

It is with deep regrets that I must inform you all that I will not be able to follow up on the Trade Route tomorrow afternoon.
I have been battling an illness and am not up to the task.
Whether you were buying, or whether you were selling fish, please inform your opposite persons that there will be no transport from me available.
