Title: Hagen Double T5 - opinion?
Post by: theoryguru on March 17, 2013, 04:41:58 PM
hi,

I'm currently running 2 x 36" Marineland LED doublebrights on my 6' 125g;   I've never had issues and pleased with the lighting.. one regret is the LEDs don't promote green algae growth as much as a T5 would.

...BUT I got an offer to buy a pair of used Hagen T5 Double (4ft) lights for $200, the bulbs are pricey but included.
Has anyone used the Hagen T5?  If so, can you provide some feedback.

Great price, it's tempting;  I'm trying to rationalize this purchase  :-\

My opinion is that they are great for saltwater tanks yes. The bulbs are 19 bucks a piece for t5ho's and that is a butt load cheaper than the t12 or t8 vhos that run upwards of 40 bucks. You could pick up a t5 fixture at homedepot for less.
