Title: Couple new fish
Post by: Steve on March 09, 2013, 08:36:03 PM
I went out tonight looking for a new OB peacock for the Mbuna tank and found this guy. Out of the 30 or so OB's they had in the tank this one stood out to me because he was the only one that had a blue in his face which I thought was really nice looking.

Then before I left with him I looked into the assorted/mixed tank and for some reason just feel in love with this guy. He just had such nice color and so clean and healthy looking I just had to give him a new home.

Good job capturing the blue on that OBs face. I cannot seem to ever get it to show in my pictures.

What is the Mbuna?  A Cobalt?

Blair if you have a SLR with a flash that has adjustable tilt then try bouncing the flash off the ceiling at an angle. When I flashed it straight on the fish the blues get washed out in the pic, but when I bounce it off the ceiling it shows the blue better as well as all the other colors.

The other fish was just in one of the assorted/mixed African tanks so they didn't know exactly what he is for sure, but Cobalt blue/blue zebra was my thought as well. Although I'm still not very good at identifying species yet myself. I usually get maybe 10% correct lol

I have a Cobalt in my Mbuna tank, and it looks exactly like that. I'd say it's a Cobalt
