Here's a suggestion for anyone that has an item in the For Sale section. When your item sells and the thread is then basically "dead" instead of posting your own reply that it is "sold", why not just hit the "modify" option in your opening post and put "sold" across the top, or even in the title. There really is no need to post it as a follow-up comment which ends up bumping a "dead" thread to the top. This leaves more space on the front page for active sales.

Sold.
ROTFLMAO!!!! You about made me spew my beer :o

I was going to put I am SOLD on that idea.

I'd rather have someone bump their thread to say "sold" than to have a variety of people over the various time after the item was sold bump it inquiring about the status! ;D
But yes, great point, editing the title for the thread would be best.

If you started the post if your items are sold and there is no need to keep the thread you can also delete it by using the remove topic link at the bottom of the thread.

the way some people go about it on here they might need to keep track of there thread for tax purposes

True, but it could lead to a future PM inquiry as to whether or not the seller has more at a later date.
Also, for those that are concerned about it, it would decrease post counts for all members that posted in that thread.

I would prefer people didn't delete their threads, as it can get confusing. Tony's idea makes the most sense (to put sold in the title). It would save people the time of even opening the thread.

I agree, put sold in the title and in a last post, but leave the thread, do not delete.
