I've set up a 75 gallon black water tank with Peruvian cross angels, wild caught loxozonus cories and Pristella tetras. There will be tank bred wild Rio Negro/Sta Isabel angels added in a few months. They just went free swimming a week or so ago.
Original set up:

Side view with first of the angels now that it's established.

Tony, you saw these angels at quarter size when you came here for my Africans.

Thanks you guys. Appreciate your comments.

Beautiful and relaxing set-up; very well done.

Very nice.
I bought my first bag of silver Angelfish at the last MCA auction and also have them in a 75 gallon tank. If my tank looks half as good as yours I'll be happy.

I'd have to find the pics but one of the previous biotope I had for my 190g was a SA theme. I had it filled with nothing but driftwood, front-to-back, side-to-side, and nearly to the top, and the livestock was all wild caught or wild type fish.
I had around 18 wild caught Red Spot P. scalare angels, somewhere around two dozen wild caught fancy plecos, and several schools of wild type tetras like Rummy Nose, Cardinals, Red Eyes, and Von Rios.

Looks great---I really like the silver/striped "normal" colored Angels.

I agree w/ Rob. Good-quality wild angels are too often unappreciated. My favorites are the Santa Isabellas and the Peru "altums".

I totally agree that there is something really special about the wilds and wild types. The Rio Negro/Sta Isabel youngsters I'm waiting for will have the dark thick bars and the altum facial profile. Am anxiously awaiting their arrival.

After following this thread I really want to set up another wild angel tank this fall.

Sounds like you've set one up in the past. Do you have any pictures?
Here's a front view of mine from today:

Sorry, I have no pictures. All I have are memories of many tanks set up as various biotopes. I gave away my Santa Isabellas last year to make room for other fish.

One day I'll do an Angel tank. I've always liked their looks. Nice tank!
