nope. Fish and chips is a Friday thing. This announcement is not about a Friday. ;)

not with Tony as VP

It's either the ACA national convention is coming here or MCA is going to allow guppies in their auction :-\
-
I think it's that Jeff found Somebody to dress up like Gilligan & go to the auction this weekend with him.
(Of course Jeff will be wearing a blue polo & "skipper "cap. :P)

We already allow guppies. You just have to have a Golden Fin to be able to bring them though.
Nope on the ACA Convention.

I heard that the MCA is going to take all members to Shedd Aquarium in Chicago all expenses paid. Anyone else hear that?
I wish the announcement was that I was successful with my continued attempts for the MCA to hire exotic dancers to be our auction runners but the rest of the board continues to shoot me down!
-
I 2nd that....Ya ya ya Exotic Dancers He he he !
-
I wish the announcement was that I was successful with my continued attempts for the MCA to hire exotic dancers to be our auction runners......
That's genius! :) :) :) :) :) :)
-
I keep telling Jeff we ARE NOT hiring Chippendale dancers, but he just ignores me.
And just to be clear Jeff, we are not hosting a combination fish auction and "furry" convention either!
-
I keep telling Jeff we ARE NOT hiring Chippendale dancers, but he just ignores me.
I don't think Jeff wants to hire Chippendale Dancers, although that would bring the ladies in.

You don't want to do that. If the women show up they will keep us from buying fish and spend it all on the dancers :'(. Of course the other "exotic" dancers we would spend all of our money....not good either way.

We are working on having another outstanding Raffle for this auction.
Soon I will be listing who our vendors will be and maybe even an idea of what to look for on their tables.
We are also working on possibly having a much better offering from the kitchen.
Stay tuned....... 8)

As I mentioned previously, here are the list of vendors we have for this event and what they might be offering.
~Pete and Cathy Durkin...various cichlids, guppies, different types of Ancistrus, rainbows, and fancy plecos.
~John and Betty Oyer...various cichlids, maybe some catfish, and probably NLS foods.
~Brantley from Plecocaves.com....not sure but his website lists Poret foam, caves, cones, omega one food, sera fish and custom pottery. Here is his website: http://plecocaves.com/
~Chris Benes, owner of Pet Supplier in Highland, Mi and long time friend and member of the MCA....he's keeping his table stock a secret 8)
~Rich Emmers and Sons....a variety of equipment and dry goods, or maybe just a smile, depending on his recovery from knee surgery :)
~Rob Longfellow....not sure but I will update if he PM's me (hint, hint Rob)

I'm sure this is mentioned somewhere but I can't find it.
What time is the 5/4 auction starting - doors open time and then the main event time? I appreciate it.
-
Perhaps I have missed it in the thread, would someone please explain the "Swap" part of this event to me? Is there going to be a Swap Meet type of atmosphere involved. I have some things I'd be willing to swap. Some of it too large or bulky to lug around the hall though.
-

We will have 9 vendor tables. Those people will be bringing drygoods and/or live stock that you would not find in our auction. Only those tables will be allowed to sell items excluding auction items of course. All of these tables have been reserved for some time. Other than per-arranged sales you're out of luck. Sorry Charlie.

Perhaps "Swap" is the wrong word choice then. Just sayin' ???

I don't understand why? Every fish swap meet I've seen or heard of rents tables to vendors. That is exactly what we did. Just because all the tables are reserved by others its not a swap?
-

My impression from previous experience with "swaps" is that it means "tables for rent" for sellers. My understanding is that there was limited space for tables with the planned layout, so table numbers were limited and they quickly sold out. I tried to find past references of this, but threads are cluttered and I had a hard time trying to find a good link.

To me the word "Swap" insinuates goods for goods. Like trading baseball cards. "Hey, I'll swap you a Girk Gibson 1984 for a Lance Parrish 1984. I guess it's open to interpretation. I've been to Gardening Plant swaps where it's plants for plants. Not trying to cause trouble. Perhaps Auction and (I hate to say it), Flea Market would have been a better word choice.

Near the vendor tables with there be a electrical outlet that we can plug a extension cord into, so I can show people the stuff I am selling works?
Thanks
