Title: A sugessestion
Post by: dm3475 on January 30, 2013, 11:34:25 PM
We all have negatives about our local LFS but when I just read that one of the stores are trying to get back on their feet and they recently had a break why not have a day where we all get together and help them out? thats with the owners permission of course

Are you suggesting a LFS tour?  If so why don't you start making a plan mapping out a good route and figuring out a date.

I think he was getting at volunteering out time to help the owner of the shops out to get caught up on cleaning and what not to turn the store around.

It would just be like going to work for me. I would be down if I wasn't so far away.

Just my own opinion, but if I was going to organize a volunteer event, it would be for a non-profit like the Belle Isle Aquarium.

It's my understanding that they have a number of displays that need to be repaired before they can be refilled.  Perhaps we could organize a time to help them get more tanks operational.

Good idea Marty! I'm not "M.r Fix-it" by any stretch of the imagination but I'll do what I can.

I agree 100% with Marty.

Here is my 2 cents on this...

These are stores... a business.  There is NO EXCUSE for needing assistance in CLEANING up a store or tanks, etc.
Now if a place was doing a remodel and could use a hand building racks, or moving tanks, etc. to get it done very quickly... maybe.

But, I work too much and have a family life at home.  I cant volunteer my time to a store because they are too lazy or cheap to keep things clean.

I am sorry if this sounds harsh, but thats how I feel on the subject.

I'll see what I can find out as far as what's needed and post when I know something.

I like  the belle Isle Idea, count me in. I have a few young ones that will be gophers and it would be great for my kids to tell there friends at school:)
