Figure its time to post a picture or two. These first are just cell phone pictures.
These are from a few weeks ago or so.
-
This one is a little more recent.
And also a picture of our faded out Frontosa. I sure hope it grows out of this.
And the bushy nose.
-
A few more.
-
Lastly... an 18 second video clip.
-
Nice Ken. At first I thought that was one big piece of wood, but I'm guessing it is multiple pieces? Looks good.
-
Yeah, there are about 6 pieces of different sizes. That way I can switch things up.
-
Should be fun watching them color up. ;D
-
Looks nice
-
A few more pictures.
-
The Christmas Fulu was showing off for someone. Always has color, but not usually this much.
Ignore the flakes floating in the tank, just fed them.
-
The calvus.
-
Nice tank
-
Nice tank, but just as a "heads up", the fish you have shown as your christmas fulu is definitely not xystichromis phytophagus. If I had to guess I would say it is a hybrid. Looks to be a cross between Hap. Sp. 44 and something else, maybe some type of nyererei. Unfortunately I seen several fish labeled as christmas fulu at the last mca auction that were likely hybrids as well.
Here are a couple pics of what a christmas fulu should look like.

Looks like an Haplochromis sp. "#44" thickskin to me. Not a Christmas fulu.
-
That's OK. I kinda thought it was a cross when I got it. I'm not breeding anything in this tank, so as long as it looks good... I am OK with it.
I do try not to buy crosses, but this one will slip.
Thanks for the info.
-
I'll just call it my mutant hap from now on.
-
Some current pictures.
-
A few more.
-
And a few more.
-
Added some more holy rock. I was planning on adding some more and getting rid of the wood... but, I am not sure anymore. I kind of like how it looks now.
-
One more.
-
Looking good. Thanks for sharing the pics!
-
Nice looking fish. Nice aquascape too.
-
Thats a sweet looking piece of driftwood.
-
Thats a sweet looking piece of driftwood.
Thanks
Its actually 3 large pieces and about 3-4 smaller pieces. Its finally done leaching color into the tank too!

How long does the wood leach? I soaked a large piece of mopani wood for about a week in a tub.(changed water every day) It still is turning the water after being in about a month.
-
Every piece in there... I put in a large cooler and filled the cooler with boiling water. IT would be BLACK in about an hour or so. I would let it sit in that water until the next day and then do it again. I did that 4-5 days with each piece of drift wood.
Even with doing that... for months afterwards after a week, my water would be significantly tea colored. After the weekly water change, it would be good... but then a week later... tea colored.
I was REAL close to taking it out. Now, 5 months later... at each weeks water changes, you can barely see the tea color. I would say another month and it should be completely gone.
No clue how long it would have taken if I hadnt boiled it day after day after day.

Thanks, I did take out some smaller pieces 2 weeks ago. It's not turning as fast, but I still see the "tea" color after 4-5 days. Will give it more time.

Here is the Blue Panaque that I got. Very disappointed in the pictures, because they dont show the true blue color. Its a neat steel blue to the fish.
But, it hasn't come out since the first day. >:(
So, here it is. One picture with the flash off and one with the flash on.
I'll get a better picture on of these days.
-
That's a nice looking pleco. If it's anything like the Panaque maccus, clown pleco, you may not see it very often.

Please dont tell me that. I have a clown in another tank and I have seen it twice in 5 months.

A trick with the clown pleco would be to put driftwood near the front and angled so you can see under it. And ideally have that be the only piece of driftwood. Otherwise, as mentioned they do hide a lot.
I think you'll find the Royal especially a lot less shy, and the Blue panaque as well...but the same trick will likely work, to put a good hiding spot of driftwood in a nice visible spot.

The clown and royal are in another tank. The Royal is too big to hide. :-) I put a piece of driftwood in there, didnt have any before. And he has been on the wood constatly now.
Now, the Blue... there is a lot of driftwood in this tank... I am not sure I will ever see it. >:(
The bristlenose in here is very active and comes out all the time... comes right up to the clip that I put cucumber on. Hopefully the Blue will learn about this clip also.
-
I took the mutant/crossbreed Fulu out of the tank. He was causing havoc and the Peacocks were all loosing color.
Trouble maker. Into the 140 gallon for you!
-
Just a couple quick pictures.
-
A little video from last night.

Smile!
;D

Been quite a while. Just some cell phone pictures from the other night.
-
A few more
-
Looks really sharp Ken..:)
-
Ok you just cleaned your tank and you felt good out it, so you snapped a couple of pictures...
I get it, I've done the same...
Very nice looking tanks and fish ;)
-
Looks good. I get laughed at when I do it. That's why we can post them here. For others to appreciate.

Nope... my tanks always look like this.
Seriously.
-
Some nice looking fish there Ken.
-
Really Nice Ken!
-
Just a couple pictures. Took 20+ pictures and these are the only ones worth posting. >:(
A video will come in a second. Shows the fish much better.
-

-
Very nice looking fish ! I love how you set up this tank, lots of hiding places..
-
Nice video, that's a tank to be proud of.
-
Really nice looking tanks.
-
wow. Beautiful tank ken. Some of those males are super colorful. Are those real plants? If so what kind?
-
Looks nice. Red tail shark gives a little body shape interest /difference.
-
The plants are all fake, I just never clean them . They look a little more realistic once algae grows on them.
I always like red tail sharks for some reason almost.
-
Did some rearranging.
-
Nice. It just struck me how big a piece of driftwood that is you have in there. Seems to make a nice centerpiece.
-
A couple recent shots.
-
Unfortunately its blurry... but I like the picture.
Hungry fish are happy fish.
-
That's a great looking Sunshine Ken. Mine is getting there but still not as vibrant a yellow as yours is.
-
your colors are awesome. Some of mine are just starting to color. Can't wait till I have a tank full like that of mature males. A+++ thanks for sharing.
-
Most of these pictures are taken with a cell phone too.
