Out with the gravel in with the PFS. I think it looks great and the fish seem to love it. Process took about 5 hours yesterday but well worth it.Just got back from lfs they tested the water and so far it's perfect. Will have it retested in 2 days.. When takeing out the old gravel i Left all fish in tank and used kitty litter scooper to remove old gravel thinking it would leave most of the good bacteria in tank. Added the sand did a 30-40 percent water change and so far so good. Thanks for all the tips on how to do this.

It's best to take all the water out and fish out when you do this. The reason why is because when you stir up all that stuff that has come to rest in your gravel is possibly the worst possible stuff to keep. You make think all the good stuff is in it but really it clings to thing so realistically it would of been more ideal to put a handful of your old gravel back into the tank with the sand then leave the bad stuff from the bottom.

Yes i did fill a coulpe of pantyhose full of the old gravel and put them near my filters.

depending on what filters you have.... you can toss the pantyhose in the filter.
