...... that gets me closer to having my 100 gallon set up.
-
:o :o :o So are you gonna just leave us hanging, or what? :P :P :P

Pick out your paint color?
-
No, that was not my intention. I had to figure it out myself. Today's goal is to empty the stand of the 60 and start setting up the 55 gallon holding tank. Now that I have an idea of what color to paint the wall. I may go look for and purchase the paint. I need to paint an area that's roughly 12x12. It's going to be the only wall that gets painted that color. How much paint do you think I'll need? I'm covering a currently white wall with a somewhere between Olive and Militant green color. Any painters? Do I really need to prime?

Do you know if the white wall was recently painted? If it was, it might have been primed already. I'd think you can easily get away with just 1g of paint, even if it takes two coats.

It looks pretty fresh. I've got some hairline cracks in the plaster too. Not bad, but I might as well try to fix 'em.

I am not a pro painter by any means and I hate painting, but if the wall is already painted the drywall is "sealed", and since you are using a darker color over white, just apply 2 coats to be safe and give it a nice even look and you will be good.
If you buy a good quality paint and a decent roller One gallon will be enough for a 12x12 wall ;D
Dont forget to do your "cutting in" before you roll, the edges and allong the other wall this is where you use a angle cut brush to paint the wall that is getting painted

Drywall? I've got what I believe is called "wet plaster".

you will be fine then. Just put 2 coats of paint and enjoy a beer after your done:)

They have paint that is primer and paint in one I believe Behr paint has it, at
Home Depot

It's been my experience that different brands and types of paint yield different results. If you ask the people in the paint department, they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Making progress.

Okay the holding tank is up with water warming in it. The stand under the tank that's coming down for now, is cleared out. The paint chips are hanging on the wall. 19 colors to choose from 2 are already showing favorably. Back to work. Maestro, music please!

Loading up the Rolling Stones' "Paint It Black" just for your occasion Chuck!!!!
-
I listened to Stone Sour, Michael Hutchence and Tom Petty amongst others.

All the fish have been moved to their holding tank. No easy task, if you've ever seen me catch fish. Now comes one of my least favorite parts of the procedure. Removing all the substrate from the tank that's coming down.

Hey, at least here's some good ideas. :) http://michigancichlid.com/simplemachinesforum/index.php?topic=1990.0

Yeah, I am going to try that dust pan idea. I have to get a new one and I am not very motivated to go out in the cold. Thanks though.

The 60 gallon is empty and headed to the garage (for now). I am strongly considering skipping the whole painting idea.
-
I know it is a PITA but I'm sure you'll be happier in the end if its painted.

Look at you being all practical. I'm concerned about the top line being straight or looking right even if it is. I believe I have what are called cove ceilings? I think the corners would look strange.

A gallon of paint and a couple of hours(2 or 3 CD's). Any good paint will work, no primer needed. Tape if you can't get a straight line.

Well, I decided not to paint. The entertainment center has been re-positioned, the stand is in the house and has been cleaned up. I have one small repair to do to the stand and then level it off tomorrow. I am doing my best to keep my OCD in check with this project.
-
The repair has been made to the stand, I am just waiting for the glue to dry. I also installed a mega power strip inside the stand. The next step is to bring the tank in from the garage then place the stand and level it off.

Up and running......

Now for the pictures.....

I'll have to figure out how to post them here.
