So how did you do?
-
didn't get anything to busy burning the hotdogs. Hey Blair tell your daughter she did a great job today,
she even made some tip money.
-
All in all It was a GREAT day, Got some "new blood" to add to my tanks (species I am already raising), picked up a few south of the border fish for my sa/ca tank and had a great time talking to people and watching My son and his friend works there tails off and same goes for blairs daughters.
Very well Run Tony and I didn't hear a negative thing all day ;D
The priority option seemed to be a big hit, and it was great to see high dollar bid's all the way to the end.
Now tomorrow, I will be saying bad things about the auction(joking) only because once I got going , i didn't want to stop or sit down even though I was in some serious pain( i can hide the look really good). It was worth it though, I am glad to be part of this group and I look forward to many more meetings and auctions. My other 2 sons are ready to take on the task of helping out :)
-
First of all great job to Tony, Marty, Blair and everyone that worked so hard on the event it was a fun day.
I picked up a bag of Vieja Heterospilus which I had never heard of and so far they are settling in and look to be a really cool fish.
Also grabbed a pair of Elongatus Chewere, some OB Zebras and a large Male Venustus that I was really excited about but he seems to have a swim bladder issue and is scooting around the bottom of the tank. We'll see what happens with him.
Congrats to Jeffro grabbing that large group of Tropheus, if I had the room I'd have given you some competition.

Auction was awsome can't wait until the next one. I did a lot of running (blue shirt blue giants cap). And I also did a ton of bidding. I wanted everything but only if it was for the right price. A lot of the stuff I was after went for close to retail at the start but as people left I was able to pick up some stuff cheap.
I missed out on a few things I wanted because they were going for just to close to retail prices. The gren red spotted severum was one.
There was also only 1 geo there which I got unfortunatly it wasn't a species I had and it was solo can't recall off the top of my head. Also no uaru or polit which I really wanted but didn't expect to be there.
I ended up with these
12xsuper red severum for 30ish they are VERY small kind of regretting this
10xrasbery head severum 20is nice size I like a lot
4x red top hongi paid 11 for them about 4 " 1 male 3 females a feel really good about this purchase
3x trewassee paid 10 I think
2xcalico long fin bn pleco paid 7 there small but still a good deal
10x red istlanum paid 7 bucks for these small but will be nice soon
1x mature brevis 2 dollars bought him cause some guy who was low balling all day offered a buck
1x female geo stendacheni (this is what's writen on the bag)
5x dwarf fire hap I don't no anything about them yet but I just wanted them and I got them cheap.
All in all a good day there were definatly some people there with blank checks which sucks for us but is good for the club.
When is the next event? I'm already pumped for it
(This was written on my phone that doesn't spell check....)

I came home with less than I took, so I consider it a successful day! :)
I picked up 9x Chimba Red Tropheus. I may have missed the first bag - not 100% sure if there were 4 there or not. I kept them a long time ago and while they seem to be one of the less appreciated variants, they are one of my favorites.
I also picked up 3x Kachese Tropheus (was trying to bolster my numbers for the time being until I pickup more Chimbas to increase the group size. They won't be together long term because of hybridizing issues.)
Lastly I came back with 6x very young Julidochromis ornatus. I kept transcriptus years ago and thought that these would be interesting to try. Hopefully I'll end up with a pair or two.
1x mature brevis 2 dollars bought him cause some guy who was low balling all day offered a buck
From a seller's perspective, trying to purchase for only $1 is in poor taste. At least for $2 the seller gets a return of $0.80 to cover the cost of bagging supplies.

Well I got a little carried away. For my 65 gallon I purchased:
2 syn. petricola cats (small)
5 cynotilapia afra cobue (am hoping the males yellow up more or else I am going to be in trouble with my saulosi when they mature-not sure if I should keep these but I want to)
9 rusty cichlids (from two different breeders, I may just keep the 5 with brighter coloring)
5 acei yellow tail (will probably keep three when they are fully grown)
14 mainganos (8 small/6 large, I may just have to keep the smaller ones - don't be mad at me Ron!)
I already have 7 small saulosi and 3 small bn plecos in the tank so I am going to need to assess the situation and decide which need to go to new homes. Everyone is in the tank and happy, except the afra cobue, larger mainganos and four of the rusties are in buckets while I try to make up my mind. :-\ Can you tell, I am usually the queen of returns?

i got 6 ikola tropheus was really hoping for more. a trio of electric blue ahils still young. and 4 long fin albino bushy nose plecos real small but ok. i thought it was a sellers market. trophs had been in great number at the auction, they were a little light today. jeffro got a large group of trophs? i must have missed that, how many, what kind and what was the final price?
-
I did a lot of running (blue shirt blue giants cap). And I also did a ton of bidding.
Blue Giants cap as in NY Giants?
Hope to make the next one.

The tropheus were tropheus red rainbow kasanga I believe. I could be wrong on the collection point but they were definatly tropheus rainbow of some sort price was close to 100. They were really nice fish Id say 6 inches or so only checked out one of the bags though I think it was a group of 10.

Picked up:
10 WC Tropheus Red Rainbow
4 Super Red Ancistrus
2 male Tramitichromis intermedius
1 male Haplochromis sp 35 Tomato
1 male (Peacock / crap can't even remember. When I go down stairs tomorrow I'll figure out what I bought)
1 male (crap can't even remember. When I go down stairs tomorrow I'll figure out what I bought)
3 Rubin Red Peacocks. 1M was DOA when I got home. Left with 1M/1F
Pretty good haul for someone who didn't have any tank space... LOL.
-
Picked up a pair of plecos labeled as L201 inspector but based on PlanetCatfish pics I think they may be Hypancistrus contradens instead. Regardless, I really like their coloration and hope to get them breeding after I get some 20s set up next week to give them more space.
Also got a bag of blue eye albino ancistrus...supposed to be 5 in the bag but either was a miscount or I lost it somehow, but I checked all my nets and buckets, so who knows. They're small but good looking.
Otherwise, not many small or medium sized (when full grown) CA/SA cichlids which is what I've been going for lately. Also very few catfish other than BN pleco variants. I was a bit disappointed in that but not too badly since my tanks are now full between fry and the two pickups above.
Fun time, glad I went home at the time I promised my wife as the day got busier once I got home - unexpected computer repair job, support call from work, etc. :)

My auction day results? A very sore back and a busted knuckle. I had to help my buddy move today and thought I was gonna at least be able to get to the auction by 2/3pm'ish. Didn't pan out the way I had hoped >:(
-

-

Hi -
A co-worker and I (we are from Port Huron) made the trip yesterday, and it was an awesome experience. We both picked up fish on a pre-arranged deal with other members, and both bid and won some fish as well. I added some Duboisi Maswa's to my colony and am taking the plunge into Petro's, picking up 13 Famula juvies, who are currently cavorting with some Bemba's while I am in the process of firing up a new 125G home for them.
We stopped off at Wet Thumb on the way home and chatted with Delores and picked up some supplies - awesome day.
Just like to say thanks to all the people who put the work into this thing. I felt it was well organized, and the check-in guy was extremely patient with my friend who wasn't quite prepared to enter his fish into the auction :)
Definitely can't wait until the next one - Wonder if the the wife would mind a new 180G in the dining room??? :)

LOL. No worries. I was surprised to see so many maingos available at the auction. In the past they weren't always so prevalent. I don't remember the price, but I thought you got those afra for a great price. Normally they tend to go higher because they aren't as common.
* My regrets: the beautiful pair of Red Empress and group of Deep Water Haps - should've won those :'(
Sorry to hear about the keys. I missed out on those P. electra - what did they sell for?

Don't return the fish! Just get another tank :)

I like the Contradens better....bigger spots.

I can home with seven petricola, 6 albino plecos (decent size), and the pair of Placidochromis sp. "Jalo" from the raffle. Hopefully the pair will work out in my 75G with my yellow labs, german reds, alhi's, yellow blaze, and pair of pundamilia nyereri.

I'd love to, but I am an eclectic person when it comes to hobbies so I don't want to stretch myself too thin. Once I'm not such a cichlid newb I'm sure I will expand. And if I set up a second tank, it will definitely be for Malawi Peacocks, not more Mbuna. ;)
-
I went to the auction got 6 fish from 2 people at the Auction then went to 2 fish store and got 1 other fish at one of the fish store. Had a ok day.
-
Came to get a couple plecos and check out an auction.
Got two perfect sized albino Blue eye bushynose. $10 perfect size for the two little tanks.
$16 for a large strawberry peacock... not sure that is what it is though. Doesn't look anything Iike the pictures on the internet or even that was taped to the bag. Don't care, it looks excellent!
$15 for 3 Regal Blue peacocks. They are pretty beat up, but should heal up with no marks on them.
Very happy.

That just means you need a third or fourth tank! ;D
-
I think I did well on my second auction. 2 small groups of "electric blue hap's" 2m4f, a small group of I believe 5 Neon Hai Reef fry, 3 Red Ruben Peacocks, 7 large M. Estrae Zebra's a couple seem to have quite a pinkish tint, 6 Venustus Fry, and another styro chucked full from Robmc... Ohhh and 1# of Spiralina plus got in on 3#'s of plecocain from Tony... All in all a good time... ;D ;D
-
Scored on some yellow labs, a bag of Koi angels (the wife liked a couple out of the bag) , quite a bit of java fern, a few anubias nana finally some petricola and some rcs. Btw, for what it's worth i thought the plants were a welcome addition. And great job by all who made the auction what it was.
-
I would like to thank everyone again for all the help. I would also like to thank all the bidders/buyers for their great participation.
Hopefully over time we can improve upon things that I/we might have fallen short on.
Al-in-all, the feedback was great at the auction as well as the follow up opinions/comments I have been hearing.
I am also pleased with the participation in regards to the raffle items. We received some very generous donations from quite a few people and I am personally grateful to them. There were a large variety of items available for raffle and I hope to keep that going.
Now, I think I will go to sleep until the Fall auction...someone please give me a wake-up call ;)
-
I'm especially grateful to John and Betty Oyer for donating the Moba frontosa since I won them! I believe they donated a couple of other bags as well.

Yes, John and Betty donated several awesome bags of fish. I purposely did not list anyone's names because I did not want to forget someone (due to still being half asleep) and thereby offend anyone.
-
No clue how much the Eletra sold for, perhaps it came up for bid when I left for the parking lot.
I know the quality pr of Empress sold for $25 - bummer :-\
-
Picked up C. moorii, cherry red zebras (outstanding color), S. petricola, P. sp. maingano, and O. mossambicus (to augment the feeder fish production line).
Needed to sell more at this auction than buy due to space needed to raise fry.
Great auction in the new place and thanks to all that made it a success, notably the leadership of the MCA. Good to see more kids attending and participating.
Mike Z.

Thanks to all my friends(?) who offered to store it for me

5X Electric Blue Rams (long fin gene)
The Golden Rams are fricking amazing.
Once again, great job at the auction guys. I love the new location. You guys certainly have the best raffle prizes too.
