Have a 35 gallon hex and wanted a cichlid suggestion to put in it I was think Cyprochromis but I dont know if its big enough . I might break down and get a noncichlid to put in it :(

Everything I've read says they like room to swim but it's always worth a try. Maybe shine paracyp nigripinnis (sp?) you could always do shellies
-
You could do some shell dwellers I've always wanted to try them my self.
-
Not really thinking of shellies its a tall tank I wanted something that would more swim up in the water
-
Have you considered Angelfish? They'd probably do okay.
-
What about an Apistogramma variant or else checkerboard cichlids? They'd definitely stay small enough. Or do you just want to do Africans? If Africans, then one of the shelldwellers is about all I can think of small enough for a 35 hex.
-
Yes have thought about Apistos just wanted to see if there was an African option I hadden thought of my thought was maybe a pair of Apito and maybe come cardinals swimming @ the top if I can do Africa

Do a dwarf cichlid from West Africa...you could do Pelvicachromis but I would suggest Nannochromis transvestitus (no jokes please) and a school of Congo tetras.
A few rocks, a couple pieces of driftwood with Anubias attached....
Now, that would be a cool looking tank!!!

since you're talking about N. Transvestitus... didn't you spell "buy" wrong?

I really only guessed 2 the size of tank very poorly guessed ( not use to guesing hex sizes) looked up on line its inly 20 gallons like your suggestion but do you think a 20 would be big enough for the nanos ( the congos seam like they would be to big

Oh, I corrected it...the "Y" is right next to the "T" on the keyboard ::)
You're just upset because I said no joking about the transvestitus. :P
Remind me to tell you a story about a fish convention and that same fish.
