Also, what is that good one in Lansing called? I will be driving through there so if I don't find what I am looking for at the auction, I might stop there on the way back to Grand Rapids.

please no hijacking my thread.  :-\

Well if you're going to go to Oceans&Seas then you should also check out stingray bay, greenwoods & tropical treasures. So, I'd say hit the other two & save the Eastside stores for a day when you can make it to all of them.

The Aquarium Shop is Royal Oak is a nice place.  Small, but a very nice place.  Specialize in the more "friendly Africans".  Peacocks, etc.  There is a thread started in the LFS Reviews section.  They are supposed to be having a good sale this weekend.

Never been to Atlantis.

Oceans and Seas is 50% salt and 50% fresh water.  The fresh water is a large variety of all kinds of fish.  Not many Africans usually.  Nice store though.

ooohh, I've never been to Atlantis Fish Shoppe! Thanks for the heads up.

Of the other 2 I've been to Oceans and Seas more but I think the Aquarium Shoppe in R.O. might have a better plant selection at times. So, it depends on what you are looking for.

I have not been the the Oceans & Sea one so can't speak on that one, but I do go to The Aquarium Shop in RO as well as Atlantis in Clawson quite often. Of those two the Aquarium shop is ther better shop. Atlantis is a very very small shop and only has a very limited assortment of FW fish, no live plants that I know of, and not very much stuff to look at. The Aquarium shop has a better selection by far. But if you're gonna be in this area Jenna then I would say to head to Royal Tropical fish on Woodward just N or 11 mile rd. They have a much larger selection of fish and plants and it is only a couple miles from both the other shops you mentioned.

Be sure to call to see what time they close though because they have a few days a week that they close earlier and a couple they stay open later.

If you are looking for plants, Sting ray Bay just put in a SWEET 4 level tank with nothing but plants. The tank is like a stair case style where the top tank flows into the tank below it and on to the next one and so on.

Ocean and seas has a HUGE tank with nothing but plants Would be my first choice

Greenwoods, I would avoid , as they dont have very many plants.

Tropical Treasures has a nice collection

As for the others I am not sure

If time is short... skip out on Greenwoods for sure.  If you have the time, its a neat setup.... but needs a LOT of updating.

I forgot all about my most local fish store... Kee's Pet Shop.  They do have a descent planted section.  Just redid all their freshwater section also when they expanded to include the store that was next door after it closed.

I was at kee's Aquarium last summer and that when they were redoing the new rooms and i know the people who own that place. i will have to have my father take me back there again.

From what I have heard, I haven't been there in a few months, they just updated there store and expanded in the past 2 months

I will have to make a trip over there ASAP since they are only 10 min away, but I always forget lol

They expanded the store prior to last Thanksgiving, months and months before.  Then they opened the new fish room on Black Friday.

It looks nice, but I dont think they made best use of the available space.  Lots of wasted room.
