I was into my local pet store again today, "still no fish" but gettin close. Anyway he had on the shelf Cobalt fish food, uhh pellets and flakes both I believe. Im just wondering if anyone has heard of this brand. He then showed me an apparently new powerhead powered gravel vac/filter system that re-uses the aquarium water by running it through a Micron filter I believe. Any opinions/info are welcome. I thought it was pretty neat, figured I would see what everyone else thought. ???

I've seen the Cobalt foods but haven't tried them out yet. I believe I've heard it's a higher priced product but don't quote me on that.
The power head/gravel vac sounds interesting. I would have to see it, or hear a detailed description of the mechanics, but if the water and any debris have to flow directly through the power head I would think the impeller wouldn't last long.

Yeah they sent me a bunch of stuff awhile back a ton of free food to try and some power heads. The company is 3 dudes who branched off from marineland to make there own power heads and food. There food doesn't seem any different then omega one. The pumps are made in Italy if that means anything too you as well. I know its a big thing that the push when they try to sell stuff to businesses. The pumps are pretty much identical to maxi jets but a different color to the housing.
The vac seems like it would be a good idea but you will still need to do water changes to lower nitrates. So ultimately it is a good idea but really it is just good for cleaning the gravel so it will help with nitrates some but water changes will still need to be done.

The guy at my local store showed me a short video, its basically a HOB filter with a hose and a normal gravel syphon, but at the top of the syphon where your hose attaches there is a powerhead there. Really neat deal. Might have to do some searching to see if I can come across the video. Unless someone else beats me to it...

I bought some Cobalt flakes from Guppy Breeder awhile back, but I haven't tried them yet. Maybe she'll know more about the company.
