I think it would be cool to hear some of the weird or cool things people have kept in a aquarium. Recently at work I found a big mantis shrimp and kept him in a cup we keep shrimp and stuff in until he smashed through the bottom of it. Sadly he met his demise today.

I feel that my red claw macro shrimp are pretty cool. Very interesting behavior as they're more aggressive than a dwarf shrimp but also less shy than most crayfish.

Freshwater lamprey
:o Did you catch it out of a Stream/River? Not much makes me squirmish, but lamphreys and giant spiders are on that list ;D

I also find this fish fascinating. No idea what it is. Found two for a dollar each at a Pet Supplies Plus when buying crickets one time.

Yep, it was from a tributary of the Shiawasse that run through the front of my property. I'm really, really, really far from the actual river though and never really see much for fish beyond darters and chubs, but one year there was a really strong run of lamprey for about 2 weeks. I didn't really keep them long and culled as many as I could catch. I haven't really seen them since. They never really freaked me out aside from a few instances where they'd briefly latch onto my hand or arm.

Sea lampray are a whole bunch of nope to me. Ugly as all get up

I had a "water bug" that looked like a Praying Mantis once. I also kept a Black Widow spider in a large jar for awhile just to prove a point a few years back.

Those fish above look to be a type of darter

I was thinking so too...but now I'm leaning toward fat sleeper goby but not 100% on that.

Look like sleepers too me as well. They look cool when they get bigger

Banded Florida water snake caught in a minnow trap while on vacation. Released back on my subsequent collecting trip to Florida. Lots of "attitude" for a 24" snake.
