Title: New to site
Post by: jchapman on January 09, 2013, 03:38:11 PM
I'm new here and am getting some useful information. I was into breeding African cichlids many years ago and just recently got back into keeping fish again, by accident. Got a great deal on 90 gallon tank and that started the bug again. Hope to get more tanks other than the 90 gallon and the 29 gallon for my wife. As long as i finish the house remodel wife won't give me he** for getting a bunch of tanks for breeding. Hope to get more useful information on this site. Would like to meet more of you in person if you are located near or around Grand Rapids or southwest michigan you can hit me up at email [email protected].

Yes I have started to stock my tank. I have all young fish and will be transferring them to there own specific species tanks once i get them pairing. I currently have 2 glossolepsis psuedoincisus, 2 melanotaenia fluviatilis, 5 acarichthys heckelli, 3 geophagus surinamensis, 3-4 hypsophryus nicaraguensis, 1 geophagus steindachneri, 1 larger fire mouth that got from friend that was originally not healthy but back to perfect health. And a few other oddballs.

Welcome!
So you are near Grand Rapids.....The Grand Valley Aquarium Club is having a swap (mid day) and a monthly meeting (evening) on Saturday the 12th. Both good opportunities to meet other fish folks. Check out the site for swap and meeting times and locations   http://www.grandvalleyaquariumclub.org/

Yeah plan on being there tomorrow but won't be able to make meeting. I should be there bright and early. Like I said I am five miles or less away from this event and just want to get there early. Getting back into the hobby and try and get as much information as possible. I have talked to a few people and the major demand around here is New World Cichlids and that is what I hope to focus my breeding on.. Are you going to have table there at the event?
