Probably a case of mistaken identity since he had on that silly hat/hood. :P
I'm not too surprised. Those eagles are huge and used to hunt coyotes/jackels in some locations. Anyone with a small pet or livestock is aware of what avian predators can do. I had a variety of hawks staring down the chickens I raised this past spring.

When I use to have cickens and ducks the hawks and owls were always picking stuff off. The cop that I would get ducks and chcikens from actually said its ok to shoot them if they are killing animals.

My understanding is that is a federal offense. You might want to speak to a DNR officer before you try to do that.

That's what I thought too. I originally went to school to be DNR but waiting list was like a mile too long for me. I never shot anything besides a fox and a coyote. I think those do more damage then big birds of prey.

Ron the federal law says it is illegal to shot predatory birds. The state of michigan has a farm livestock protection law that says any predatories can be shot if attacking livestock. Pretty crazy confusion! Lol

To make it even more confusing.....I would put pretty good odds on betting that protected/endangered species such as Bald Eagles here in Michigan would for sure be exempt of any livestock protection law that lets you shoot them.

If I recall, where Bald Eagles are concerned they are 100% out of bounds regardless of what they are doing since they are our National Bird. I believe I've read that it is even illegal to possess a feather from a Bald Eagle even if you find it on the ground.
The exception may be for Native Americans in possession of eagle feathers which I totally agree with.

This year a Indian tribe actually got a permit to kill an eagle actually. It was kinda odd hearing about it I might be wrong but I think it is the same tribe that had a member arrest for killing a eagle illegally a few years back.

I got it out of my books for school I think every state is different though. Its actually penal code 16 U.S.C. 668(a); 50 CFR 22.

Video might be fake, but I imagine it could happen. I remember a Bald Eagle circling over my back yard while my year old daughter was playing. I was watching it thinking "I bet it could lift her away without too much trouble..."
