Yes MY Acei group. I actually have some Africans again. :o
I grabbed 9 of these from John Piippo's "aquatic estate sale" on Sunday.
Then yesterday I grabbed 2more while at Fins.
Here they are in their 50B quarantine tank. Enjoy.....

Says the video is private now?
-
Damn it! I'll have to upload it again& edit the link
-
You should be able to just go into the settings on your youtube account under your uploads and click "public" and avoid having to reupload and all.
-
Try now....
-
It's working now!
At first I was thinking "holy cow that's a deep tank, how big is it?!", but then I realized you were filming it on end!
They're looking good - any idea on the m/f ratio?
-
Yeah that is one of my breeder tanks that's in the rack longways.
Thanks,
There were 3females brooding when I took them out of John's tank. So, that's the extent of my M/F ratio knowledge, right now.
Notice the one missing it's whole anal fin?

Great looking fish, I would love to have that group.... 8) 8)

Thanks... I like how they stay in a shoal

Nice looking group 8)

Hey Blair
Good looking group but I also love the drift wood as the center piece.
Great way to remember John as you and I discussed
My Juli fry have taken over a 20 gal grow out tank with the breeders in a 29 all to themselves
As for the Blue Z. Fronts they are in my 90 gal show tank and have settled in great
-
Thanks Steve
Yep Rob, I think this piece of driftwood makes a excellent center piece for the Acei, especially since Acei are found around algae covered branches in the wild.;)
Good to hear the fish you picked up are doing good.
-
Looking great Blair. They will look even better once they are in the 75g you bought from John's estate.
As for the Clown Loaches I brought home from John's, they are doing well in the shoal, happily "clicking" already tonight.
Once I get the tank moved and set up, I'll post pics of all the Clowns...to be honest I lost track of how many are in the group now. One things for certain, I think I could safely call it a herd instead of a shoal or school.
-
Thanks Tony, if all goes as planned I will have a group of 15 in that 75. I'm going for a bio-tope show tank with as many big structures as possible, making it easier to pull decor & remove brooding females for stripping of fry.
It's going to be a lot different than my normal "pack it full of PVC " breeding tanks. ;)
It's all pretty funny as I started out wanting a species to fill a 50B & now I will have this group of 15 in a 75. Classic hobbyist fishuses :P

Blair looks like you found your Malawians, great looking too. Iwant some of those fry when you get over loaded.

Yeah I saw that "buried" in the middle of your exciting Christmas eve post LOL

Tank looks great I'm sure those 4 will do much better then they were in my tank. Let me . Know if any of mine breed would love to see the fry.

there's 18 of them in there, once yours heal up I may not be able to tell which ones they are.
If I can I will though.
-
You have them all in that 50B?
-
No, they're in a 75
-
Oh, ok. I was about to say... :o...though that 75 might start to get a little crowded when they start getting some more size to them...
-
Yep, I plan to weed out some subDom males& there's a couple with minor little things I don't like. (Head shape, ect)
That's the benefit of breeding FlowerHorns for years.... I'm VERY picky about my fish& take any deformation out of the equation.

That right there is a great example of responsible breeding! 8)

thank you Ron

I had similar methods to Blair when working on my own breeding project(s). Eliminating various females from the equation due to undesirable traits. After limited success with those methods I now accept pretty much any adult female into my breeding projects. ;D

LMAO!

This is why I'm divorced twice but am without children...I got rid of the undesirable females before producing offspring...I didn't want to be involved with passing on beotchiness into the human world. Unfortunately other non-scrupulous guys didn't have the same ethics.

this is Why most men would rather their child be born male.
(Don't get me wrong...I'd kill for my princess, as She means the World to me ;) )

If I had a kid that was anything like me growing up I dunno if the world would be ready for that. The Mayans would not even see it coming.
