Yesterday Vic Bondi, Gary Damm, Blair Henze, and I held the open house at the late John Piippo's apartment.
Our goal was to ease the burden on his family by taking care of the dispersal of John's "aquatic estate".
The family wishes to thank everyone that came over and made purchases.
I can't tell you how many times John's sister Kathy, his daughter Jessica, his father John, and the other family members said how much they appreciated all this.
I personally would like to thank all the people that came over and made respectful offers on everything they purchased.
In fact, I would like to thank Rob (vaudeville) and his lovely bride Trish for not only their purchases, but for paying more than the prices I suggested...hats off to you both. And an extra special thanks to them for sticking around and helping out by volunteering their time.
This coming Saturday, December 22nd, at 1:30pm we will be holding a second open house for the dispersal of tanks and the enormous variety of other dry goods. There is so much stock that if you need something for your fish room, more than likely it is available. I encourage everyone to take the time to come over and do some shopping. All the tanks will be drained and ready to go. If you are hoping to buy a tank set up, I suggest that you bring bucket(s) for the gravel and a friend to help you load...just in case all of the volunteers are busy.
Oh BTW, John's apartment is in Westland on Merriman Rd on the east side and you enter the first driveway north of Hines Drive. Here is the address: 7528 Merriman, apt 102, Westland, MI 48185-2446.

Tony and those that helped, you are true friends to the family of John and himself.
I will be coming Saturday, and I will have my ranger so If anyone need anything transported in the near area or to the east side I will happily provide the transportation
Just a ruff Idea on what kind of prices you are thinking on tanks heaters and filters?
I don't want to get into a bidding war or offended anyone, but I would like to buy something since it is going to help the family

That's great Rich...some others my take you up on the transport offer.
As for pricing, it's not something I want to get into on the forum just because there is so much to clear out.
Trust me though, I am setting values for the items so they sell....the less items we have to move to my place for storage, the better. I would however, plan on getting there as close to 1:30pm as possible.

Do you know off the top of your head what size tanks there are going to be?

No offense- But, The topic of saving items has been discussed & it's Not really fair to hold items for somebody when there will be all kinds of people driving over to see what's available. I would not be Happy if I was an Ohio resident & made the trip up only to find out that the item I really needed is being held for somebody who wasn't even there.
And it's not just you, I told the same thing to a VERY good friend yesterday.
Now if it's something left over accommodations MIGHT be able to be made.

Hope to see some folks tomorrow afternoon...I really want to sell everything so I don't have to haul it to my place.
-
Tony asked me to let everyone know that everything is sold!
-
Thank you to everybody who came out, helped&/or purchased items!

x2 for sure.
And a big thank you to John aka Jaws22 for making things so simple today by just purchasing everything that remained.

sound like a great day I wish I was there, way to go Tony and Blair
John would have been proud.
-
I did not get the opportunity to meet John since I am still somewhat new here, but I am glad to hear everything went smooth with the auction. I'm sure not only does the money help his family, but I'm sure it is also a comfort to them knowing that his items he loved will carry on being used through all his friends.
-
I was a little late to the "action" but I still feel I felt his presence in the room, and knowing that all his stuff is going to some one that enjoys the hobby and Johnny AKA Jaws22 told me he is setting it all up in his basement is a great feeling

I had to work so I didn't make it there either.
Tony had called me to let me know

Blair helped out several more days during the week and Vic Bondi was there this Saturday.
Again, thank you to all.
