I think that is one of the fish Domonic was looking for.
-
Looks to be a Polleni. Polleni- small spot. Bleekeri - large spot.
-
Yes, I would call the fish pictured is a Paratilapia Polleni sp. "Small spot"
P. Bleekeri was renamed P.Polleni sp. "Large spot" some time ago& the genus has been going through taxonomic changes since.
May I ask your source? IMO - somebody lied to you, as the Paratilapia species are listed as either critical, vulnerable or endangered. (Along with most Madagascar 's species) & I am highly doubtful that you were able to purchase a wild caught one.
-
I know Old World had some of the Paratilapia bleekeri Maralambo on his list, but they weren't wild caught.
-
There are a few different places that have them on their lists. It's the wild caught part that I am doubtful on & IMO the OP got taken if he bought this as wild caught.
-
Beautiful fish but, as already stated, not "Bleekeri" and I definitely would not believe wild caught...even with a so-called paper trail. Unfortunately unscrupulous people can even make fake papers.
Hope you didn't get tagged too hard for extra cost by being told it was WC as opposed to domestic stock.
Again though, beautiful fish.
