That Bi-Color Peacock I got at then end of the auction died. It was upside down when I pulled it out of the styro and it didn't last long while I let it acclimate to the temp.

That sucks, it happens though. Hopefully you didn't pay too much

Some of the bags sold didn't have oxygen and I can imagine that some people had loooong trips.
-
The bag was too small, too.

That's why it's always good to bring supplies.... Or just hit up Tony for a rebag ;)

FWIW, if a fish is dying, skip trying to acclimate them! Typically it's either an ammonia or an O2 issue, so getting them into fresh water ASAP is best.
As for bags not labeled as having O2, bagging with O2 is nice, but not necessary and fish will still last a long time if bagged properly. I try to avoid bags that look too small for the fish they are holding, bags with lots of poop, cloudy water (ammonia issues), or bags filled with too much water (typically 1/3-1/2 is a fair amount - beyond 1/2 and I skip them unless they are known to be breather bags (bags which let O2 pass through the plastic).

Too add a little more, sometimes sedatives are used (I loved Bag Buddies, but they were discontinued) and are a good thing IMO for larger fish, though the fish often look/act drunk for a bit due to the sedation.

I wish I would have remembered that. Next time I will definately ask him to.

I still have some bag buddies and use them. I wonder if they "go bad" after some point.

I had a 400 count bottle for around 3 years or so. The blue portion started to deteriorate on some, which I believe is the sedative, but I wouldn't say they went bad. More like they were "less effective".

I just got a container of bagg buddies last year not sure from where but they were like .05 a tablet..

I'd love to know the source. Last I knew Jungle discontinued the product 3-4 years ago.
