After listening to the speaker last night and he was talking fish, it seems to me that Ob peacocks and other peacocks are not very sought after fish, to me it sounded like they are kinda like flowerhorns?
Please educate me on this as I dont want to get the wrong idea

All hybrids are undesirable to most experienced fish keepers.
The OB Peacock is one of those hybrids, although it's not hated like Flowerhorn.
Not all the Peacocks are hybrid, just a few.

Like other things in life I think it's all personal taste. My opinion is I like Peacocks and OB's better than non hybrid cichlids because IMO they have more beautiful colors. Matter of fact I will be getting my stock of dozen peacocks (including an OB) is from Cichlid express on Tuesday ;D Long as someone is not breeding them and then selling them off as something else then I never have understood why some people have such hatred for them.

Which ones are you talking about beach? Just wondering because most people I know that have Peacocks all say they are actually much more relaxed and mild mannered than any other cichlids.

OB's and Dragonsblood especially. I had poor luck with both in my showtank. But you never know, worth a try ;)

Uhg I didn't want to hear OB's lol. Guess we'll see how it goes, I guess might have to make sure the time out tank is set up ahead of time I guess.

Obs are actually hit or miss. sometimes they are not aggressive and are just very passive and easy going. Saying any african cichlid will or will not be aggressive would be impossible to say.

The OB peacock is created by crossing the peacock with mbuna. That's where the aggression comes from. My OBs were more aggressive than my dragonsblood but eventually my all male beautiful peacock hap tank turned into a glass box full of constant battling.

Good thing you didn't because I've been away from the internet for the last week or so wandering the plains of North Dakota. ;)

For the record, I highly dislike them both equally. :P
For me the dislike is simply from a conservation perspective, though there's also the appreciation of what nature has created (which is why I'm not a big fan of line-bred ones either, but they're better than crosses).

Ive also heard the the ob peacock could have come from crossing a peacock with a Paralabidochromis chromogynos. Both have much more similar body shape than an mbuna.
