Title: Large black spots on my blue dolphins
Post by: vaudeville on October 04, 2012, 10:28:29 AM
Hey Gang
I bought three of the blue dolphins at a LFS of high reputation at about 1.5 inches in length
They are now at about 3 inches and what I am questioning is that they both have good size dark spots (markings) on their sides
I don't recall seeing these spots on these fish in photos before.
Is this a type from a certain locale or did I get a mixed breed?

Normal for them. I haven't kept one in like 5 years but it seemed mine had the spot from time to tim not sure if it was a way to tell sex or not just knew mine was a big male due to he hump on his head.

I also have some and they take a long time to grow out of those marks.  They could always flare up from time to time when there stressed or holding or any number of reasons..  but all is normal...
