Title: spixe snails
Post by: Dan K on June 30, 2012, 04:34:29 AM
Anyone else have trouble with spixie snails killing and eating fish? I had two BN plecos in my fry tank and added a handful of spixies. Next morning one pleco is dead and being eaten. I thought it was coincidence and pleco may have died for other reasons but 2nd morning the 2nd pleco is spixie breakfast.  ??? >:(

I've never heard of them killing fish. I'm sure there is something more to it maybe they could of been carring a disease or something with your water. Spixie snails have been know to kill and eat hydrias.

I've moved these snails from tank to tank over the past year with no disease or other issues. Although when they were in my newborn fry tank I did see one munching on a fry and just assumed the fry had died and the snail was scavenging but now I'm beginning to think otherwise.
