Title: Glass for 540 Gallon
Post by: Auratum on February 17, 2020, 09:34:34 PM
Glass for 540 gallon aquarium. The tank was disassembled to allow someone to move to their basement. 8'x3'x3' tank - 1/2" plate glass (very heavy). 2 internal overflows and drilled bottom. Heavy duty iron stand comes with it. Was constructed with Euro-Bracing. I got this in trade years ago and have not taken on the task to reassemble and going to let it go now. $400 OBO - pickup in Midland, MI.

For reference - a new tank with these dimensions from Glass Cages sells for $3888 and to buy the glass from them is $16/ft2.  The shelll of this tank has 90 ft2 of glass (not including bracing and overflows) and would cost $1440 just to buy the plate glass new.

What condition is the viewing glass in? Are the pieces for the euro bracing included?

The viewing pane was in good condition from my memory.  It was several years ago when I got this glass.  Each of the bigger pains weigh 150+ lbs so I haven’t inspected the glass since I brought it home and stacked it in my garage.  There were several pieces of the euro-bracing that came with it.  I was not too familiar with the euro-bracing at the time so it is possible there may be a piece missing but it all seemed to be there.

I had some details incorrect on this guy.   I will be creating a new post with the proper details.  Moral of the story is don’t trust your long term memory with details...
