Title: Water quality
Post by: neilsarah on September 14, 2019, 07:53:02 PM
Need some help. I have a 195 with a 45 overflow. I have had this thing running for years. Recently I pulled all gravel and rocks and bleached and power washed due to black brush algae. I rinsed the best I possibly could and let everything dry. Got it all back up and going and I’m the last few weeks have stocked the crap out of it. Just tested my water levels and everything is off the charts. Ammonia nitrites and nitrates. I assumed I wiped out my bacteria colony with trace amounts of bleach but I’m not really sure. Any ideas on what I can do to help? I have a well established pond. Would I be safe to dump some pond water in my tank to help seed it? Stress zyme? I need help so all my new fish don’t die.

if you have someone near you, you can get some BB from a used filter to help you out

Is pond bb the same as an aquarium? I wouldn’t see why not but I’ve never tried it before.

If it's fresh water, it's the same bacteria so go for it with the pond media

I see we are neighbors, I can help with seeded media to get your water right. Seachem prime the tank immediately and add some air stones for additional oxygen exchange.
