Veija argentea
« on: August 11, 2019, 11:15:32 PM »
G'day folks
Going back to my SA/CA roots for a season. Has anyone here had any experience keeping this species, also known as the white cichlid? The only info I could find on Google was from 2012 & the thread poster had a group that imploded when the alpha male killed all his male siblings. I was hoping to out a few in a 125 gal SA display I am planning but no nothing about them. Any experiences here? Anyone know where that can be sourced, preferably as 2-3" juvies?
Cheers.
Danny

Got my info and found a supplier of every species I was hoping to find...all in 1 place...I'm amazed...now to sell my discus and make the switch...I'm super stoked to be going back to where it all began...a CA community display...I hope my 125 can handle it, lol!

Cichlids of the Americas. I didn't know this guy even existed. I guess not unusual since I have kept Africans and discus exclusively since moving to the US. His website has some very cool CA/SA species. I think I have a buy for my whole discus group so maybe by the end of next week I will have made the change over...

Yes Brian, the argentea are the black & white ones. Apparently they can be pretty brutal but I am hoping if I get a few of the calmer species in the 3-5" range and the argentea in 2.5" range that they may grow up playing nicely. We'll see, lol. Should be a fun grow out that's for sure!

Cheers you blokes, I will keep you posted. I think the best I can do is upload a YouTube vid link once I get this thing going as I don't have a host for images. That'll work out ok though...the only issue is my 125 gal is a bit of an old beater, lol, but it's better than nothing ;)

Ah,  ok.  I've ordered from him many times over the last 6yrs.

The forum attachment deal is working now.  No need for YouTube,  if you don't want it.

Thanks mate...nice to know you have had multiple orders from him...1 off reviews are ok, but being a repeat customer gives me a little more peace of mind to be sure. Online ordering & shipping can be a crap shoot sometimes.

Is it possible to load pics direct from my phone or laptop to the MCA site, or do they have to go through an imaging host?  I had a bunch of pics on Photobucket when it switched over the being a pay only site. I have joined another image hosting site since...
