Prearranged Sales at Auctions~Proper Etiquette
« on: January 17, 2013, 02:53:47 PM »
To all participants at MCA auctions,
I have noticed a few recent posts that have me concerned and they were also brought to my attention by other members.
Let me address this issue quite clearly:
I see no problem with people having prearranged sales and meeting at the auction for convenience...I even do this myself.
With our members spread out all over Michigan (and even other states) this is a good way to enlarge your window for sharing items. Again, this is fine.
However, I have read several posts leading up to the current MCA auction where people plan to bring things that have not been sold ahead of time but instead are for people to "shop". This is not acceptable behavior. This is a club auction, not a swap meet. Now, if you want to do this type of sales out of your vehicle for members outside your home area, I encourage you to come to a meeting and make your sales either before or after the meeting.
I would prefer that everyone follow this as an "unwritten" rule of etiquette so we aren't forced to incorporate something into the official rules.
Also please note~this is in regard to the Michigan Cichlid Association~I cannot speak for any other club, or their policies.
